OUR CULTIVATION APPROACH
The Slow Weed Method
Our cultivation philosophy stems from the desire to honour the plant’s natural life cycle while harnessing the unique Locarno micro-climate. We believe that only respectful, artisanal farming can deliver top-quality flowers packed with aroma and active compounds.
Soil and microclimate
We farm at about 200 metres above sea level in one of Switzerland’s sunniest areas, where the day-night temperature swings boost resin and terpene production. Our plots are carefully selected to provide the right nutrient balance, with zero pesticides or synthetic fertilisers.
The result is robust, healthy plants that fully express their aromatic potential.
Slow, respectful cultivation
At Slow Weed we follow nature’s pace, preferring clonal propagation and just a few seasonal prunings. Every task is done by hand—from soil prep and planting (or cutting insertion) to the hand harvest. This “slow” approach lets us monitor each plant constantly, respecting its timing and health.
Drying and curing
Harvesting is only the beginning: we hang the flowers upside-down in dark, ventilated rooms kept at 20 °C and 60 % RH for at least 10–14 days. This slow drying preserves terpenes and stabilises the buds. We then carry out an extended curing phase, during which chlorophyll breaks down and the aromas deepen and soften.

Quality takes time and patience: that’s how our flowers gain a unique, rich aromatic profile, from the first jar opening to the very last use.
Testing and transparency
We regularly submit our flowers to lab testing to ensure cannabinoid levels meet legal limits and to rule out pesticides or heavy metals. We believe in transparency: every test report is available to anyone who wishes to see it.
Continuous improvement cycle
Each season is a chance to improve, trying new sustainable solutions and expanding our strain catalogue. We update our blog regularly with articles covering every step of the Slow Weed method, including storage tips.
Our values, our identity
Respect for nature, hands-on care at every stage, and the transparency with which we share our work are what set us apart. For a deeper dive into our values manifesto, click here.
